GP5 Gas Mask

The GP-5 is an iconic, Cold War-era civilian gas mask produced in massive quantities by the Soviet Union between 1962 and 1989. It was designed to protect the Soviet population from chemical, biological, and radiological fallout. Today, it is highly popular among military collectors, historical re-enactors, and cosplayers.​ 

 

Design & Features Full-Head Hood: Made of lightweight, stretchy green-grey or black rubber.

 

Circular Eyepieces: Features two round glass lenses sealed with metal rims.

 

Direct Attachment: The filter screws directly into the chin piece without a hose.

 

Voice-Pump Valve: Simple metal assembly at the bottom handles inhalation and exhalation.

 

Critical Safety Warning Asbestos Risk: Original vintage Soviet GP-5 filters contain 7.5% white asbestos. Inhalation Danger: Breathing through an original filter can release dangerous fibres into your lungs.

 

Safe Use: The rubber mask itself is safe to wear if washed, but the old filters must never be used.Thread Compatibility: It uses a Soviet 40mm GOST thread, which does not safely seal with modern Western 40mm NATO filters.
